Unit Description: Sodexo is seeking an Off-site Food Production Site Manager for our 18,000 sq. ft. facility

The Site Operations Manager is responsible for daily fresh food manufacturing operations and production-related activities as it relates to the Off-Site Food Production Program. The site consists of a production facility for large batch food processing and preparation, multiple chilled-environment prep rooms for produce, work-in-progress (WIP) and protein production and a chilled-environment high-care packaging room.

This hands-on position is responsible for:

  • Managing site operations
  • Defining and implementing operational SOPs to foster an environment of continuous improvement
  • Ensuring full compliance with all State and Federal agency regulated Health, Food Safety and Safety codes. This role is the leader of the facility and responsible for following all policies and procedures related to food manufacturing, including:
    • Food safety requirements (FDA, USDA, GFSI standards)
    • Production planning and execution
    • Maximizing labor and equipment utilization
    • Safeguard protocols for receiving, prep, finished production and packaging are consistently met
    • Ensure on time delivery to multiple sites daily with proper order accuracy The Site Operations Manager's primary duties include:
      • Developing SOPs and ensuring the team successfully follows the production plan
      • Daily/weekly/quarterly planning
      • Oversight and verification of product quality, food safety systems, packaging quality and productivity
      • Ensuring proper receiving and administrative recording of product deliveries, storage and handling, and wrap/label/date process compliance
      • Ensuring the proper tracking of delivery quantities Other Duties Include:
        • Establishing and maintaining strategic plans for manufacturing that include capacity planning, infrastructure requirements, cost containment, labor management and initiatives required for continuous improvement.
        • Directing and completing audits as needed and make recommendations to optimize financial performance and operational standards.
        • Managing the health, sanitation, and safety regulations pertaining to the handling and storage of foods and the operation of food processing facilities and equipment.
        • Ensuring the proper use and care of equipment used in large-scale food operations.
        • Ensuring food safety program, HACCP Forms training and compliance.
        • Overseeing aspects of P&L, site management, logistics, staff training and development.
        • Responsible for department performance including capacity planning, scheduling, quality, compliance and training. Is this the right opportunity for you? We are seeking candidates that have/are:
          • Experience in FDA/USDA monitored environments and/or GFSI experience.
          • Knowledge of end-to-end manufacturing production software, food safety systems, supply chain and logistics systems.
          • Experience in the manufacturing production of fresh food across multiple categories- sandwiches, salads, wraps, parfaits, grain bowls, snack boxes, pre-cut produce and fruit, large batch preparation of proteins, sauces, soups and others.
          • 5-7 years of experience directing Operations of a chilled fresh food manufacturing facility or industrial kitchen environment.
          • Experience in pre-opening and startup operations for food manufacturing facility.
          • Multi-unit experience or demonstrated advancement at single site
          • Understanding of various cooking, prepping and packaging techniques
          • Broad knowledge of standards of manufacturing technology, equipment, food safety, organizational development/management, finance and employee relations
          • Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, Process Improvement certification preferred.
          • Excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
          • A successful track record of being able to establish and achieve performance goals and objectives for safety, quality, cost control, manufacturing efficiency, process development and staff retention.
          • Food contract service experience a plus and fresh food meal service is desirable
          • A proven track record of successful hiring, building, motivating, training, and developing solid teams
          • Demonstrates a positive attitude and ability to motivate, inspire and positively communicate goals and objectives to our global network of team members
          • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and quick problem-solving
          • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
          • Strong knowledge of MS Office, especially a firm understanding of Excel, ERP and/or CRM systems to compile detailed analytics, presentations, project and plans
          • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and acceptance of diversity
          • Results-driven, strategic with the ability to execute plans successfully and efficiently
          • Leadership in a union environment

The successful candidate will thrive in an ambiguous environment, leading the team from initial pre-opening of the site through a rapid expansion of size, capabilities and output. The role will direct, coach and mentor staff to develop methods to best meet production goals in addition to making processes more efficient. Ensures full compliance with all State and Federal agency regulated Health, Food Safety and Safety codes.

            Responsible to:

            Bring to life information which will inform our senior leaders, which our commercial teams can understand and use, and which our customers find compelling. To map, catalogue, maintain and manage all relevant insight sources within the organisation. To support operations with operational and customer dashboards, and to ensure that the account based QBR process leverages both internal and external data to present our activities in an appropriate light to our customers.

            Manage, expand and improve the data sets we currently have, covering the US healthcare market from a variety of different perspectives, support individual product/service offerings, manage our go to market process, and capture/analyse key operational metrics. To create appropriate links between these data sets and other operational systems within the business - particularly salesforce - in an intelligent way: leveraging the knowledge we have whilst maintaining the integrity of the data and maintaining appropriate security.

            Use a range of techniques for analysing data and disseminating findings, ensuring that insights are presented in a way understandable to non-technical audiences: highlighting the strategic and tactical consequences of the analysis and insight. To deliver data and insight relationships with external partners. To ensure that the data analytics team has the appropriate skill sets, and to leverage wider corporate resources to ensure segment receives an appropriate share of resources.

To provide input into the development of new sources of insight, through new applications or extracting data from current systems. Guide development so Sodexo can extract the maximum insight benefit.

            Support sales and business development activities with specific pieces of insight work, helping the business create well evidenced and compelling value propositions for high value opportunities or markets. To support customer retention processes, aggregating data, looking for insights, developing common threads/threats and ensuring they are communicated/understood.
