DescriptionInstallation EngineerFull Time - ExemptThe
Installation Engineer will have responsibility for the technical
support and guidance for the complete installation of Alert
Innovation's storage & retrieval structure at customer sites.This
position will perform the critical role of providing the technical
expertise required to ensure that the combination of subcontractors
and Alert Innovation employees complete installation of the
Alphabot structure in compliance with all critical parameters such
that there is a defect-free hand off to the Alert commissioning
team. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of both the
electrical and mechanical knowledge necessary to support the
installation, however, candidates will be considered who have
expertise in one of the two disciplines combined with the ability
to acquire the necessary expertise in the other.This position
requires a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who cares
deeply about their own and their team's success and has strong
technical, interpersonal, problem-solving skills. Due to the
fast-paced and dynamic nature of the work, the right candidate will
possess the ability to maintain order amidst chaos, adapt easily to
change, maintain focus on the objective, operate with minimal
supervision, and thrive under the pressure of challenging
deadlines. This is an end user-facing position working under
minimal supervision and requires travel throughout North
America.Responsibilities* Train contractors on proper installation
methodologies.* Provide technical guidance and oversight to 3rd
party installation contractors.* Guide installation contractors in
the proper interpretation of system documentation.* Lead the
technical "Request for Information" process by documenting and
delivering answers to technical questions during the installation.*
Anticipate and resolve field issues to mitigate the potential
impact on project deliverables.* Troubleshoot installation &
material problems or issues.* Oversee and approve site deviations,
ensure documentation is maintained.* Validate that equipment is
installed per Alert requirements.* Drive execution of the
installation QA/QC plan.* Participate in building components &
subassemblies.* Participate in performing power and signal testing
to confirm that the system is wired properly.* Participate in the
development of field logistics plans.* Participate in new
product/component constructability design reviews and contribute to
continuous improvement by suggesting procedural and design
changes.* Analyze new or revised designs to develop and document
installation methodologies.* Identify needs for installation
fixtures and work with Manufacturing Engineering on the development
of fixtures.* Participate in Site Engineering design reviews
identifying critical parameters required for proper field
execution.* Participate in Alert Academy thru developing Work
Instructions, Training Modules, and acting as a trainer for the
certification of 3rd party contractors. * Travel throughout North
America to support site installations and upgrades.Required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings,
specifications, bills of materials, and work instructions.* Ability
to solve technical problems in a timely manner with minimal
support.* Multidisciplinary (mechanical & electrical) technical
aptitudes.* Ability to react to changing conditions & work to
aggressive deadlines. * Ability to maintain focus on project goals
in the face of schedule pressure and challenging conditions.*
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve
project goals.* Willingness to accept ownership for project goals.*
Willingness to perform any and all tasks necessary to achieve
project goals. * Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal
supervision to achieve aggressive project goals. * Strong
interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate at all
levels (with internal and external customers, engineers,
technicians & tradespersons) in written, verbal & presentation
formats.* Proficiency with Microsoft Office. * Must have a valid
driver's license, and be qualified to obtain a credit card for
travel-related expenses; able to obtain a passport.* Ability to
develop and manage a project plan.* Ability to develop construction
schedules using scheduling software such as MSProject. * Working
knowledge of contract administration & negotiation.* Familiarity
with 8D or similar structured problem-solving tools.* Familiar with
the requirements for electrical safety such as LOTO, hazard risk
assessment, and compliance with NFPA 70E.* Ability to install and
repair wiring and components of equipment following electrical
code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.* Valid
electrician license with experience in commercial or industrial
construction.* The candidate must be willing to travel over 50% of
the time to client installation locations.Additional
Knowledge/Skills Helpful But Not RequiredEDUCATION/relative Years
experience* BS in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
but not required.* 2-5 years experience in a similar role in
