Your Role: Small and Large Molecule Formulation DevelopmentWe are looking for an energetic, motivated student (undergraduate or graduate) interested in contributing to the advancement of cutting-edge therapeutic molecules in our pharmaceutical research laboratory. Our team focuses on the development of small molecules and biologics (antibody drugs) by applying formulation-based strategies to produce stabile formulations to support early phase in-vivo studies. In our laboratory you will work directly with these novel molecules as you learn about our major work packages including drug candidate characterization, formulation screening, forced degradation studies and feasibility assessments. This will provide an opportunity to learn and observe the core formulation related activities for both small molecules and biologics while gaining experience with a variety of technologies needed to support drug discovery including liquid chromatography, dynamic light scattering, mass spectrometry, microscopy, formulation technologies, differential scanning fluorimetry and protein-protein interaction measurements. In addition, opportunities are available during the CO-OP experience to shadow other functions to obtain a broad perspective of the drug development process at EMD Serono. Responsibilities: Develop solution and suspension formulations suitable for in vivo animal studies Develop analytical methods, characterize, and perform stability studies on drug substances and drug products Assist in formulation screening activities of novel biological molecules Analyze the thermal and colloidal stability of biological molecules Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation as needed Evaluate new and emerging technologies for potential implementation within Pharmaceutical Technologies Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics Sciences, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field Completed biology project lab, biochemistry course, or analytical chemistry lecture and lab (or equivalent classes/labs) Good communication skills, attention to details and procedures Problem solving skills and experience in pharmaceutical related research preferred Basic knowledge of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC and accurate wet biochemistry techniquesThe Company is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
