Your Role at Cabot Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist to join the Inkjet Process Development team and help grow inkjet business in the fast-growing, emerging industrial inkjet printer market.The scientist will lead planning and projects through Cabot's Stage Gate process and work closely with the supply chain, product development, and product line teams on raw material sourcing, new vendor qualification, and continuous efficiency improvement for both existing and new products. The scientist will have a unique opportunity to work on both product and process development and execute lab- and pilot-scale experiments in support of scaleup and commercialization of aqueous pigment dispersions. We are seeking a qualified scientist, who enjoys the blending of chemistry and process, and the lab and plant environments. The scientist will be part of the process development team and work onsite in Billerica, MA. If so, please consider the opportunity we have for you to join our team How You Will Make an Impact Independent researcher contributes to areas of product and process development to develop innovations, new designs, or new techniques to advance the field. Work closely with the supply chain, product development, product line, and sales teams to define, lead, and execute projects with clear objectives Plans and conducts project work to safely meet objectives and timeline. Will include DOE trials, logistics, materials and equipment preparation, coordination with managers and colleagues. Executes planned procedures, experiments, tests, and tasks in the lab with attention to observations and learning. May design needed tests or tools in the development of new products and processes; Clearly documents work in e-notebook. Generates data, conducts advanced statistical analysis, and organizes and interprets data to establish and support new process, materials, and/or application learning; Conducts tests, draws conclusions, advances hypotheses, and makes recommendations. Prepares appropriate reports and presentations documenting work, results, and conclusions. Presents work to management, broad technical groups, business partners, and external partners. Train others in areas of processes, characterization, compliance, equipment, and safety. Participate in discussions with external partners, suppliers, vendors, and customers. May supervise employees assisting in specific assignments by providing day to day instruction and developing and assigning work plans; provides input to the individual's manager on performance Adheres to all intellectual property standards throughout area of responsibility. Stays current with relevant patent literature. Identifies opportunities to capture new IP and supports the preparation of patent applications. Maintains and advances safe laboratory operations. Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements. Creates and updates safety documentation and ensures hazard communication. Leads in safety-focused activities such as seeking out opportunities to advance our safety culture. Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care-- Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001-- technical specification, as applicable to the site/region. Strictly follows and complies with all SH&E procedures, standards and regulations and constantly strives for Excellence in the field of Sustainability, Safety, Health and preservation of the Environment. What You Will Bring to Cabot Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineer, Process Chemistry or related fields with 8 years of related experience; Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineer, Process Chemistry or related fields with 4 year of related experience Ph. D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineer, Process Chemistry or related fields Advanced knowledge in relevant technical discipline and keep current with state of art in relevant technology. An understanding of small molecule synthesis and its characterization with a proven track record of accomplishment is desirable. Ability to use design of experiments and statistical methods, and tools for planning, execution, and analysis. Broad understanding of laboratory equipment, procedures, methods and safety practices. Communication & Presentation Skills. Ability to effectively engage in verbal and written communications that are timely, concise, clear, and relevant while delivering with empathy. Strong analytical, observation and problem-solving skills. Ability to conduct advanced statistical analysis and draw conclusions from experimental work and to advances hypotheses and propose next steps. Knowledge of execution aspects of project management and stage gate or similar type process Basic knowledge of patent/intellectual property. Understands IP implications of external communications. Collaborative attitude and inter-personal skills; willing to share information and resources with peers.
