Please see The Role :We are seeking a full-time, entry level Assistant Food Scientist to join our growing team at our facility in Billerica, MA. This position will report to the Director of Food Science & Product Innovation and will be responsible for assisting the Food Science Team in all aspects of product development and food safety. The ideal candidate would be an organized self-starter, who would like to gain experience in a food manufacturing environment: food science, product development, ingredient sourcing, vendor management etc. Must be willing to stand/ work on your feet for 4-8 hours per day. This is not a desk job, although desk work is part of the role. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Assist with production tasks as needed, including kitchen setup and sanitation, of product to be used at demos and for testing the ColdSnap machines. Take part in new recipe development and current recipe improvement for the following items: ice cream, dairy free ice cream, smoothies, coffee drinks, protein shakes, sorbets, cocktails, and other cold/frozen configurations Abide by food safety and quality assurance protocols at the instruction of the Food Safety Manager when working in the test kitchen. Assist with managing our shelf-life program for the determination and verification of product safety and quality. Support with sourcing and procurement of necessary ingredients and supplies needed to meet the changing levels of product demand. Gain strong understanding of inventory and document control software systems: issue materials after production and R&D, create and check ingredient and product specifications, update spreadsheets daily with data related to recipe formulation and critical factor testing. Rotate and fill ingredients as needed in test kitchen. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, or another science/culinary related field Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite Motivated, hard-working, eager to excel, able to take direction and work on a team.
