Job Description Nuclera is a venture-backed, founder-driven
biotech company headquartered in Cambridge, UK with significant
operations in Boston, USA. The companys mission is to make biology
accessible to everyone through desktop bioprinting. We are
beginning this mission by making proteins accessible through the
launch and on-going development of our eProtein desktop bioprinting
platform. eProtein promises to be a breakthrough protein printing
technology that brings rapid prototyping to the life science
benchtop and accelerates the drug discovery process. Nuclera is
entering the next phase of its growth with plans to dramatically
expand its staff over the next 12-24 months offering extensive
learning and career progression opportunities. Nuclera is seeking a
Research Associate to support the implementation of cutting-edge
scientific efforts in materials science and digital microfluidics.
The Research Associate will report to the Deposition Group Lead and
will be responsible for assisting in a variety of research
initiatives, including characterization of device prototypes,
fabrication of test samples and thin films, analysis of new
materials utilizing equipment and custom protocols of the Nuclera
R&D teams. This role will suit an individual who has experience
and drive working in a fast-paced biotech environment with a track
record of execution and teamwork. About the role: Perform
laboratory experiments utilizing digital microfluidic testing
equipment and electrochemical test benches Run multiple experiments
in parallel utilizing standard protocols while exercising
discretion and judgment on unexpected outcomes Perform
characterization of electrical, chemical and structural properties
of substrates and coatings Assist in the fabrication of test
samples and prototypes using thin film coating techniques Assist in
the design of laboratory experiments, techniques, and protocols
Perform routine logging of samples and data Support the research
team with lab operations and maintenance Support project lead with
data generation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation
Participate in project team meetings and platform development
Requirements Essential: Bachelor's Degree in a technical field
Enthusiastic, team player, and self-motivated individual Hands-on
lab skills and safe-lab practices are a must Ability to analyse
information and use logic to address work-related issues and
problems Ability to prioritize and deliver on tight timelines
Strong verbal and written communications skills Highly organized,
exceptional attention to detail, and strong proficiency in
documentation skills Proficiency with software for data
representation/analysis such as Microsoft Excel Desirable: 0-3
years of experience in a relevant technical field Experience with
thin film deposition techniques such as CVD, ALD, sputtering, spin
coating, dip coating, thermal evaporation Experience with metrology
techniques for electrical properties such as current-voltage
