Responsibilities

New opportunity based in Billerica MA (partially remote until office re-opens) for an NMR Scientist with focus on liquid state NMR Spectroscopy to join the Bruker Biospin NMR Applications Team supporting the Americas Region. Based upon your profound experience with NMR applications and the implementation of modern NMR experiments, you will have the possibility to join an innovative company that values initiative and ideas to work collaboratively within a highly skilled and motivated international team.

  • Perform or assist in NMR spectrometer demonstrations
  • Create and maintain protocols, workflows and optimized application sequences
  • Develop new methods
  • Perform or assist in customer training and support (on-site, in house and virtual)
  • Provide customer support (phone, email, on-site, in-house, virtual, and hotline)
  • Creation of user documentation and training material
  • Support of system integration and component specification
  • Scientific and technical support of Sales and After Sales teams
  • Perform and assist in the production of marketing materials, video and virtual lectures, data preparation, and other documentation
  • Prepare and conduct webinars
  • Assist and participate in trade shows and conferences
  • Collaboration on customer projects (publication opportunities exist).
  • Perform troubleshooting to maintain demo lab instruments in peak performing condition
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, or Biophysics required.
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in operation of NMR spectrometers
  • Familiarity with NMR data analysis is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with the implementation and development of liquid state NMR experiments

  • Good understanding of modern NMR spectrometer hardware concepts

  • Experience with Bruker's NMR hardware and software (Avance electronics, TopSpin) is advantageous

  • Proven ability to operate the NMR spectrometer including physical activities such as changing NMR samples, changing NMR probes, and occasionally exchanging components of the NMR spectrometer or installing or removing entire spectrometers.

  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, reach, crawl, lift equipment weighing up to 75 lbs., and perform tasks under the magnet.
  • Advanced knowledge of Algebra, Geometry, Calculus
  • Basic knowledge of physical concepts
  • Intermediate knowledge of all chemical concepts with specialization in one or more areas such as organic, inorganic, analytical or physical chemistry or biochemistry
  • Advanced reasoning, troubleshooting, scientific thinking and teaching skills
  • Demonstrated efficiency in Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems with advanced ability to create MS Word documents, Excel workbooks, MS PowerPoint presentations
  • Expertise in programs written by Bruker BioSpin Corporation, such as TopSpin and others
  • Proven ability to keep the NMR spectrometer in good operating condition, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance
  • Excellent verbal, written, computer, interpersonal, communication, teaching, and presentation skills with ability to write at an advanced scientific level and deliver customer-oriented support
  • Operates at the highest standards of business ethics, honesty, and personal integrity
  • Possesses behavioral attributes such as agility, individual responsibility balanced with teamwork, collaboration, customer-orientation, tactful communication, flexibility, inspires trust and confidence, leading and developing people, results orientation, embraces change and innovation
  • English language fluency required; knowledge of additional languages desirable
  • Valid Driver License in good standing, issued by resident state required
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required
  • Maintenance of a valid passport with flexibility for global travel
  • May be required to pass security clearance investigation.
