Job Description:

E Ink is seeking an experienced engineer for a role with broad responsibility for electro-optic apparatuses used to measure electronic paper displays. In this role you will design, build, and deploy new apparatus as well as improve upon existing systems. These will support Research and Develop efforts and will also be scaled up to the needs of production environments. Acquisition of real-time colorimetric spatio-temporal optical data is of special interest, so a knowledge of color systems is required. Responsibilities include developing new apparatus according to R&D project requirements as well as troubleshooting and improving existing apparatus to meet updated specifications. This would include determining components, constructing devices, writing software interfaces, designing calibrations, performing gage studies, and creating documentation. In some cases you will be working with the R&D team to understand needs and help enable new capabilities in areas such color electronic paper display and modeling using machine learning. In other cases, the final apparatus will be used in production processes and may require it to be transferred to international teams.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Math, Optics, or Mechanical Engineering and at least five years of industrial experience, or M.S. or Ph.D. with at least 2 years of experience
  • Experience designing, building, and qualifying measurement apparatus, preferably for optical and electrical measurements
  • Ability to program in C++ and/or Python, understanding of Matlab and LabView
  • Proven ability to communicate and document results

Preferences / Additional Skills

  • Experience with machine vision cameras, lenses, light sources, spectrophotometers, and/or microscopy
  • Experience developing real-time acquisition software for machine vision cameras and / or spectrometers
  • Knowledge of optics, optical metrology, color imaging, colorimetry, and statistical analysis
  • Experience working with vendors to build equipment or sub-components on time and within budget
  • Experience with electronic devices and laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and function generators
  • Experience with A/D converters, high accuracy current measurement and electrical characterization
