ABOUT THE ROLE:


The fiber manufacturing technician plays an integral part of the overall process required to make polymer-based fibers.


The technician is responsible for the set-up, operation, and cleaning of various types of process equipment utilized in the manufacturing of fibers.


The technician will work with a variety of manufacturing equipment and fixtures in accordance with our quality & safety regulations and company policy.


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operation of a vacuum deposition system
Responsible for equipment setup and operation in a fiber processing environment
Complete mastery of preform manufacturing processes according to released procedures
Responsible for facility and equipment cleaning
Process expert in one of more processes (draw and deposition main areas of focus)
Maintain lab equipment in accordance with released procedures
Strict adherence to procedures and practices according to FDA regulations
Strong emphasis on documentation according to FDA regulations
Performs additional manufacturing duties as assigned
Must be able to interact with R&D and Manufacturing engineering on yield and process improvement


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
Degree in Science or Engineering field preferred but not required
Must be proactive, results driven and have strong attention to detail
Self-starter with strong work ethic with the ability to exercise good judgement
Familiarity with instrument controls
Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with hazardous materials
Experience in a clean-room environment
Must have good manual dexterity
Semi-conductor experience is a plus
Vacuum deposition experience is a plus
Optical / Draw Tower experience is a plus
