Creative Financial Staffing has partnered with a revolutionary Life Science company to identify a Senior Manager of Payroll to join their team. This position can either be remote (but must live in-state) or hybrid.Highlights of the Senior Manager of Payroll opportunity:

  • Their revenue has grown year-over-year for the past 10 years and it more than doubled from FY 2019 to FY 2020.
  • Highly entrepreneurial/fast-paced environment with unlimited visibility to executive management. I have worked with the company since the early days and have assisted with the build-out of the team. The individuals whom I have placed are still with the company and have been promoted.
  • Due to the size of the company, this role will have the ability to wear multiple hats and be exposed to challenging and exciting work that you may not see in a larger company. The Senior Manager of Payroll's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Manage a team of 2 and review the payroll process for US & international employees, including biweekly & monthly pay cycles as well as off cycle payments as needed
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax guidelines
    • Perform SOX control procedures with documentation, and assist with quarterly and year end audit requests
    • Collaborate with implementation team to execute an ongoing payroll provider implementation
    • Provide HR guidance on payroll processes and develop/implement company policies related to payroll & equity administration
    • Serve as point of contact to US and international employees to provide guidance on complex payroll and equity issues
    • Manage periodic bonus and commission payments including supporting the quarterly commission calculation per agreements and annual bonus calculation, as well as processing off cycle payment runs
    • Ensure income and taxes associated with employee equity activity (i.e., exercises, vesting) are properly recorded on W-2s and taxes are remitted timely to tax authorities
    • Manage day to day development, oversight & administration of company's stock-based compensation program, including partnering with counsel and external partners to ensure appropriate plan development and administration for US and international employees as well as management of the company's employee stock purchase program
    • Lead key annual payroll-related audits, including 401k and workers compensation audits
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation and drive the implementation of solutions
    • Review and/or prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries and related reconciliations QualificationsRequired:
      • 8+ years of prior multi-state and international payroll experience
      • Strong knowledge of global payroll processes including payroll compliance
      • Implementation of payroll software
      • SOX experience and implementation of internal controls
      • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
      • Diligence in meeting deadlines
      • Demonstrative verbal and written communication skillsPreferred:
        • Experience in equity administration
        • Experience with Success Factors preferred
