across the globe.Your Role:The Cellular and Translational
Immunology Group within the Translational Innovation Platform (TIP)
Immunology and Neurology Department at EMD Serono, Billerica, MA,
is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to join our team at our
state-of-the-art research facility. The Sr. Associate Scientist
will contribute to the discovery of medicines for the treatment of
autoimmune and neuroinflammatory diseases. You will work
collaboratively across functions with a group of scientists to
further our understanding of autoimmune diseases and pre-clinical
animal models to evaluate potential drug
candidates.Responsibilities:
- Perform routine histology activities including tissue handling,
processing, embedding, and sectioning (FFPE & FF)
- Perform routine cell culture including cell isolation from
human whole blood/PBMCs
- Develop and execute cell-based assays using primary human
immune cells or cell lines to support target validation and
mechanism-of-action studies
- Record data accurately in the Electronic Laboratory Notebook
and maintain records per company policy and legal requirements
- Prepare data reports and give presentations at group and
departmental meetings
- Collaborate with members in Cellular and Translational
Immunology group and cross-functionally to support departmental
goalsWho You Are:Minimum qualifications:
- Master's degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, or other Life
Science discipline with 1+ years of laboratory experience in an
academic or industrial setting OR
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Cell Biology, or other Life
Science discipline with 3+ years of laboratory experience in an
academic or industrial setting Preferred qualifications:
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the following areas
are highly desirable:
- Multiplex immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization
- Image Acquisition and Image analysis
- Cell-based assay development using primary human immune
cells
- Protein and RNA expression analysis using biochemistry
techniques such as western blotting, ELISA, qRT-PCR etc.
- Conduct gain- and loss-of-function studies using stable
overexpression and siRNA mediated knockdown approaches
- Good understanding of basic Immunology principles would be an
advantage
- Proficient with software: Microsoft Office, Image analysis
