Director of Business Development, Proteomics Job Locations US-MA-Billerica Posted Date 1 day ago (1/26/2021 2:13 PM) Req. # 2020-9531 # of Openings 1 Position Type Regular Full-Time Overview Lead proteomics market manager for bottom-up proteomics in the America's, with a focus on the North America. This position is within the Proteomics business unit and will report to the Global VP of Proteomics. This position is expected to be based in Bruker's Billerica office, and will require travel for pre-and post-sales activities, collaborative opportunities, and market development. Responsibilities

• Manage and support how the proteomics demo team runs customer samples and instrument demonstrations for customers the America's. This will involve aligning sample and demonstration priorities and standard operating procedures with the global VP for proteomics and the global demo lab managers, and insuring these standards and procedures are followed.
• Work with the demo lab managers for hiring and subsequent management of new applications and applications support staff as necessitated by business growth and directed by executive management.--
• Create and manage external commercial collaborations to fill gaps in internal technical capabilities, address unmet customer pain points, deploy OEM software or product solutions, and support related campaigns. Manage KOL relationships and communications in the region.
• Develop methods to monitor business leading and trailing indicators for strategic planning. Work with sales to provide monthly updates to the manager of the proteomics business concerning regional lost orders, opportunities status and pipeline health, and relevant forecast information.
• Execute regional and local campaigns to highlight regional KOL and reference sites to the greater market.
• Work with MARCOM and sales units to plan and execute relevant regional marketing and promotional activities including roadshows, conferences, and VIP events with careful attention given to ROI and cost per SQL.
• Work closely with Product Management to communicate market needs, provide updates on the competitive landscape, and support relevant launch activities. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise applications work in the San Jose and Billerica demonstration lab. Participate in discussions with key prospects, and insure that sales staff, sales management, and applications staff are following stand procedures during the planning of samples runs and instrument demonstrations for prospective customers. The director for business development for proteomics must be pro-actively informed of all communications with regional customers regarding planning of samples to be run and instrument demonstrations for proteomics, and involved in key cases. Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or closely related field with minimum 5 years of experience in the various methods used in bottom-up proteomics, including shotgun, DIA, targeted and MRM methods preferred, including experience in the use of nano-flow HPLC systems.--
  • At least 5 years managing a proteomics lab with several direct reports, running bottom-up proteomics projects for internal and external clients. Demonstrated ability to clearly define and communicate project goals with clients, and direct staff in the successful completion of these projects, resulting in publications and reports. Demonstrated skill managing staff to insure a positive work environment and high productivity. Excellent presentation skills needed to present winning demonstration project results.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office for preparing reports and presentations using Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with software tools used in proteomics, preferably experience using software packages including MaxQuant, PEAKS Studio, Skyline, preferably with knowledge and experience using other available packages for top-down and quantitative proteomics.
  • A record of publications and presentations to demonstrate the ability to produce and present results. Membership in professional societies a plus.
