The RoleThe primary role of the Process Engineering Team Leader is
to ensure our manufacturing processes are capable of producing
quality products, efficiently, safely and at sufficient capacity to
meet demand. Our team manufactures filters for use in the
ultra-high purity filtration and purification applications of the
semiconductor industry.
The Process Engineering Team Leader would oversee a team of Process
Engineers for a specific area and be responsible for managing daily
production challenges, driving continuous improvement activities
and helping to implement or improve existing systems to increase
the maturity of our operation. The main measures of success in this
role would be improvement of on-time shipment, operational
efficiency and capacity through improvements in yield, cycle time,
chemical reduction and SPC maturity
The Process Engineering Team Leader will work closely with the
Process Supervisors, Process Engineering Manager, Equipment
Engineering, Quality and EHS team to achieve success. This position
reports to the Process Engineering Manager with 3-8 direct reports
including Process Engineers and Technicians with different levels
of experience.
In this role you will:
- Manage and lead and contribute technically to a small team of
engineers responsible for sustaining and improving manufacturing
processes. Implementing innovative, technical solutions; where, by
design, people cannot get hurt, product will always be made in spec
the first time, and customers will always receive product on time
and of the highest quality.
- Lead and coach team members on their journey to six sigma
certification and overall career development
- Lead implementation and improvement of SPC across in their
manufacturing cells
- Responsible for improving yield and efficiency for a specific
manufacturing cell
- Identify and manage opportunities for continuous improvement
through use of tools such as PFMEA's and 8Ds
- Work closely with NPI team to accept new products into
manufacturing that are both capable and robust
- Help with his/her team to implement plant wide systems and
metrics such as an MES and OEE for a specific manufacturing
cell
- Attract and maintain necessary talent to achieve plant
goals
- Work with external customers in responding to quality issues
and participate in customer audits per process engineering
manager's request
- Identify capacity concerns and provide input to higher level
management to eliminate bottlenecks
- Provide feedback on strategic direction of the group
specifically around technology, capability and capital
equipment
- Identify areas for automation in his/her manufacturing cell as
a means of improving productivity and profitability and help drive
solution
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
- 3-5 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering, previous
leadership experience preferred. Bachelor's degree or Master's
Degree is a plus.
- Motivated and self-directed team player with good interpersonal
skills
- Experience leading technical teams and motivating team members
to achieve goals
- Must have ability to reach out, communicate and influence
people at all levels within the organization
- Minimally a bachelor's degree in Engineering field, primarily
mechanical or chemical
- Ability to apply statistical methodologies to develop
experiments and analyze data to drive improvements
- SixSigma Certificate preferred
- Previous experience implementing SPC system (Camline software
experience preferred)
- A strong knowledge of risk assessment and problem-solving tools
including is required
