Job Description:

Project engineering manager will apply extensive and comprehensive knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering principles and practices to lead all engineering aspects of the project. Ensure consistency and quality of engineering deliverables across all disciplines. Support overseeing contractors to ensure quality of work, particularly across large projects.

  • Manage the internal / external engineering team(s) to deliver quality design work and monitor, support, and coordinate contractor design work
  • Ensure completion of engineering deliverables, meeting cost, quality, and schedule targets
  • Ensure that all stakeholder input and review of engineering concepts and designs are received and incorporated as appropriate
  • Verify that all aspects of the project are connected, and interfaces are adequately managed
  • Evaluate value and risk of multiple engineering alternatives
  • Provide progress reports regarding engineering hours and their relation to deliverables, technical viability of solutions being developed, and value and risks of alternatives
  • Ensure all projects technically meet the design requirements including Cabot Engineering, Business & SHE requirements as well as regulatory Codes & Standards.
  • Provide inputs of engineering executions to project managers for governance reviews.
  • Identify the engineering deliverables, based on the scope agreed by the Project Manager, and use these as a basis to assist in the provision the project estimates and project execution plan
  • Ensure that all technical scope change is agreed with the project manager prior to implementation through the life of the project.
  • Provide technical support to the cost controller to estimate cost estimates at project commencement and for any potential scope change.
  • Facilitate the establishment of the project risk register, 3rd party risk registers, and its ongoing management. Ensure the risk register is agreed within project teams and regularly reviewed with project manager
  • Ensure that the technical team and any 3rd party technical contractors adhere to the overall project quality plan throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Technical review of new suppliers & contractors as part of supplier Pre-Qualification process. Provide technical directions and supports to Procurement for the negotiation of the purchase of any good and/ or services required for the delivery of projects
  • Input into, and signoff RFQs for Engineering Packages, Equipment Procurement and Construction work
  • Multidisciplinary knowledge/understanding (chemical, process, mechanical, electrical, control, and structural engineering) to manage system integration and understand discipline interaction throughout the project phases
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks and to analyze data and plan improvement activities
  • Strong working knowledge on technical risk/project management, such as DMEA, PDRI, HAZOP, EVM
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills; excellent written/verbal communications skills required
  • Knowledge of project planning and business need justification process and methodology
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and work within a diverse, cross-functional team environment
  • Requires a bachelors degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years experience of chemical engineering or heavy manufacturing execution in an EPC/EPCM environment
