footprint with two repair centers in Asia and field service
personnel in Asia, Europe, and the U.S.Senior Cost AccountantThis
is an exciting new position residing at the center of our business
operations. As Senior Cost Accountant, you will have a range of
responsibilities involving product costing, gross margin analysis,
and inventory management. This position will be a bridge between
the company's accounting, engineering, and production teams and
requires an individual who possesses an advanced understanding of
cost accounting, attention to detail, and precise organizational
skills. The appropriate candidate will be comfortable communicating
across the organization and able to influence outcomes by being a
proactive team contributor.Key duties:
- Work closely with our accounting, engineering, and
manufacturing engineering teams to establish the costing of new
BOMs and incorporate costing changes to existing BOMs.
- Work closely with our production and manufacturing engineering
teams to understand assembly processes and ensure that process
steps are accurately reflected in the company's BOMs.
- Analyze production costs and establish key performance
metrics.
- Develop cost standards for materials, labor, and overhead.
- Identify costing issues and recommend changes.
- Analyze materials usage and labor utilization rates.
- Monitor and analyze cost of goods sold and gross margins by
product and in the aggregate.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances to understand root
causes, propose correcting journal entries (when required), and
identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee and manage controls over the company's physical
inventory.
- Oversee the company's annual physical inventory count and daily
cycle counts.
- Interface with the company's auditors, as needed, concerning
inventory, BOM's, variances, margin analyses, and related
matters.
- Assist the Corporate Controller with month-end closing
activities pertaining to inventory
- Assist the Corporate Controller with month-end closing
activities pertaining to inventory (closing work orders, proposing
adjustments, variance analysis, etc.).
- Prepare financial models and documentation to support the
company's burden rate.
- Prepare analyses and documentation to support the company's
reserves for potentially obsolete and excess inventories.
- Maintain the company's cost accounting systems and materials
ledger.
- Work with Production, Engineering, and Materials Planning teams
to ensure adherence to sound accounting practices and company
policies.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of inventory (raw materials,
work-in-process, and finished-goods).
- Develop and track the cost side of the company's R&D
projects working with the company's Engineering team.
- Communicate and forecast R&D project cost variances to
permit corrective actions.Key skills:
- Prior work experience, as a manufacturing cost accountant, is
required to assume the duties of this role. Prior experience with
complex product BOMs is highly desirable.
- Proficient working with and learning MRP software systems.
Prior experience with Epicor desirable.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Professional work ethic.
- Extends professional courtesy to everyone and is attentive to
sound business practices.
- High energy and collaborative approach, but comfortable working
as a single contributor when necessary.
- Precise documentation skills and the ability to formulate,
propose, and implement recommendations for corrective actions.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in
English.Other requirements:
- Must be willing and able to work full-time at the company's
Billerica facility Monday through Friday (40 hours per week).
- Must be willing and able to work overtime when needed.
- B.S. degree in accounting.
- A minimum of 8 years prior work experience in accounting, with
at least 3 years in the cost accounting area.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.Job Type:
